Obituary: Zemon “Dexter” Brannon

Zemon “Dexter” Brannon, 79, of Addison, passed away April 5, 2023 at his residence.

He was born December 26, 1943 in Addison, Alabama. As a young man he was employed by his father in the first chicken houses in Winston County. He worked for many years in the excavation business as a heavy equipment operator. Dexter loved his family unconditionally and with all his heart. He enjoyed their weekend family game nights, which included Sequence and card games including Canasta and Mountain Rummy. Everybody was always greeted at Dexter’s house with a smile and as he once said “there’s always room for one more”.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 7, 2023 from 5:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Addison First Baptist Church. Visitation will also be held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at the church with funeral services to follow at 12 p.m. Brother Steton Hayes, Brother Kenny Sudduth, and Brother Garry Fowler will officiate. Interment will be in Nesmith Cemetery.

Dexter is survived by his wife, Sheila Brannon; son, Danny Brannon (Annette); daughters, Joyce Hayes (Gary), Lafonda Tyree (Ricky), Lettica Fowler (Garry), and Sherri Willingham (Laramie); stepsons, Brian Denson (Heather Lee) and Brandon Denson (Heather Cole); grandchildren, Deanna Stephenson, Amanda Lee, Isaac Hayes, Simon Netherton, Cody Schaffer, Haley Cline, Brandie Ward, Tandy Hoover, Kendra Denson, Candace Smith, Timica Emerson, Chelsia Riddle, Garrett Cutcher, Sadie Jordon, Peyton Thompson, Blake Denson, Briley Denson, Breonna Denson, Annakin Denson, Isaac Denson, Carpenter Denson, and Declan Denson; great grandchildren, Chloe Lee, Gracie Lee, Matthew Lee, Chandler Stephenson, Weston Smith, Zane Smith, Mattie Ward, Tucker Ward, Tanner Ward, Talon Woodard, Delia Woodard, Nadalay Emerson, Kohen Emerson, Andy Emerson, Violet Riddle, Brier Riddle, Max Riddle, Kalel Hoover, Cadence Netherton, William Netherton, Cline Netherton, Broly Benham, Lanie Fowler, Oakland Fowler, Anna Grace Fowler, Ella Fowler, Colin Fowler, and Lucy Jordon; brother, Jerry Brannon (Glenda); and sister-in-law, Etta Brannon.
