CULLMAN, Ala. – At a brief special-called meeting on Thursday, Jan. 26, the Cullman County Commission voted to reject the sole bid for Cullman County Courthouse HVAC upgrades and attempt to negotiate the price at the recommendation of JMR+H Architecture Vice President of Operations Kevin Baughn. JMR+H is based in Montgomery. Baughn’s projects include the Geneva County Jail and properties for the Retirement Systems of Alabama in Montgomery and Mobile.

The commission also voted to approve the use of $3.385 million in American Rescue Plan (ARPA) funds for a proposal for additional HVAC upgrades from Stateline Mechanical in Woodland, Alabama. ARPA is a Biden Administration economic stimulus bill signed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The next county commission work session will be held Thursday, Feb. 23, at 4 p.m. in the Commission Meeting Room at the Cullman County Courthouse. The regular meeting will follow at 6.
