Mel was also proud to be a registered nurse for more than 30 years, and truly loved helping others when they were in need.

Perhaps, her greatest role in life was that of getting to be “Mimi” to her dear niece Emily Ruth Chandler Brothers. They were best of friends. The joy that was shown on both of their faces every time they saw each other could be felt by anyone else who was around in those moments. It was a bond like no other.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ms. Judy Pilkington, Mel’s dearest friend and sister in the Lord, for her constant love, compassion and companionship she provided to Mel in the past few weeks following Greg’s unexpected passing.  Ms. Judy will forever hold a special place with the family, and they will be forever grateful.

Mel’s children would also like to thank the Cullman Regional staff, and most significantly Ms. Rachel of the Palliative Care Team for ensure that Mel’s passed away with dignity and comfort, and for providing such excellent support to Ashley and Jason during her stay.
