Obituary: Peggy Joyce McClendon

Funeral service for Peggy Joyce McClendon, age 83, of Crane Hill, Alabama, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Logan Baptist Church with Steven Sutter and Jimmy McClendon officiating, and interment in Shedd Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home and from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Logan Baptist Church prior to the service.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McClendon passed away November 5, 2021, at 1:25 a.m. at her home surrounded by family. She was born February 6, 1938, to Kermit and Ivalene Tidwell Still in Galveston, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years: Ernie J McClendon; her daughter: Rita Johnson Harper; son-in-law: Dale Harper; her parents and brother: Ray Still.

Survivors include her children: Nina (Joe) Davis, Jimmy (Susan) McClendon and Jody McClendon; grandchildren: Jared (Summer) Johnson and children, Jasmine, Autumn and Laney; Kelly (Sara) Johnson and children, Logan, Lily, Lucas, Rachel and Lee; Rebecca (Patrick) McKoy and children, Hannah and Hayden, Taylor (Erin) Davis and children; Allison, Ella and Kadance; Leah McClendon and Rachel (George) Deloney and children, Devin, Seth, Katy and Henry Mac; brother: Jack (Sharon) Still; sister: Linda (Gary) Parker; sister-in-law: Barbara Still and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Peggy had many titles in her lifetime: wife, mother, aunt, granny, world traveler and teacher. She dedicated her life to teaching and touched countless lives by doing so. Peggy loved selflessly giving anything to anyone in need. She and her husband traveled throughout the states doing mission work and building churches. Throughout her 70+ years at Logan Baptist Church, she taught countless VBS and Sunday school classes helping lead many to Christ.

Due to her love of church and children, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Logan Baptist Church and Cullman Caring for Kids.
