Veteran Memorial: Pfc. Jimmie Ray Bice

Jimmie Ray Bice was born September 22, 1948 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was the son of Clyde and Marjorie Lois (Sinyard) Bice. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during Vietnam. 

Pfc. Bice was a rifleman attached to Company D, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, Third Marine Amphibious Forces. On May 13, 1969, Bice was killed by an explosive device while fighting in the Quang Nam Province of South Vietnam. He was just 20 years old and was awarded the Purple Heart. 

Pfc. Bice is buried in Duck River Cemetery in Cullman and he is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C., Panel 25w, Line 94. He is also remembered on the Vietnam Memorial in Cullman’s Veterans Memorial Park.
