Multiple meth arrests over the weekend

CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – The Cullman County Sheriff’s Office made multiple arrests over the weekend specifically involving methamphetamine. 

On Thursday, October 21, around 3:00 a.m., CCSO deputies located Katherine Nichole Jones, 30, of Cullman, asleep in the bed of her truck. 

The vehicle was parked at a service station. Jones gave consent to the deputies to search the vehicle.

Illegal narcotics were located inside the vehicle and on her person. Jones was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs opium or derivative and possession of dangerous drugs- methamphetamine. 

Also on October 21 around 11:00 p.m., CCSO deputies stopped Chanda Leeanne Pope, 33, of Baileyton, in the area of Duck River for a traffic violation. 

Pope provided consent to search the vehicle. A prescription bottle, needle and open container of alcohol were located inside the vehicle. 

Pope was then placed under arrest and transported to the Cullman County Detention Center. 

Upon arrival, more needles and other drugs were located on her person. Pope was charged with dangerous drugs-methamphetamine, Illegal possession of prescription drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, promoting prison contraband and open container. 

“Getting drugs off the street is a priority for all of law enforcement,” Sheriff Matt Gentry said. “I am so proud of the deputies here at the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office for continuing to be proactive and doing their part to keep the citizens of Cullman County safe.”
