Funeral service for Abbie “Toot” Olean Johns, age 91, of Cullman, will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home with nephew Butch (Joyce) Shedd officiating, and burial at Etha Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Miss Johns passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021, at Cullman Regional. She was born April 17, 1930 to Tommy Johns and Abbie Colon Johns. When they named her, her dad immediately called her “Toot,” so that was her name with all of her family.
Although she never married, she helped raise all her nieces and nephews. Toot enjoyed cooking, working in her yard and working puzzle books.
She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. She loved her family and friends whole-heartedly.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Robert “Doc” Johns, Thomas Arvil Johns and Odus Johns; sisters: Lessie Mae Hollaway and Lillie Shedd; nephews: Waynard Holloway and Daryl Shedd and nieces: Elaine Ramey and Nancy Gains.
Survivors include her nephew: Dee (Geraldean) Holloway; nieces: Shirley (Bob) White and Vickey (Bill) Markey and sister-in-law: Mavaline Johns.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Stephen (Joell) Johns, Mark Johns, Kelvin “Skeeter” Johns, Anthony Johns, Zane (Emily) Johns and Will Johns. Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty Wren, Cody Johns and Evan Vance.
