Colony to host talent show, ‘Colony Day’

COLONY, Ala. – Colony Councilwoman and Parks and Recreation Committee chairperson Jasmine Cole announced at Tuesday’s council meeting that, following a successful Fourth of July celebration, her department will host two additional events this summer. 

Talent Show 

Colony’s first annual talent show will take place from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Colony Educational Complex, 151 Byars Road. Entry and attendance are free, and prizes will be awarded to the top three placements. The event is open to all ages.  

Sign up is open through July 22. 

Colony Day 

Colony Day will take place at the Community Center Saturday, Aug. 7, with a rain date Aug. 14. The event will feature a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, volleyball tournament, spades tournament, dominoes tournament, cake walk, rib cook-off and inflatables and school supplies for children.  

  • Entry in the rib cook-off – $10 
  • Family tents – $25 
  • Vendor spots – $25 
  • Food truck spots – $50 

Cole also told the council that she hopes to take children from the town’s summer program on a trip to Point Mallard before the end of July.
