Funeral service for Dewey Alvin Sims, 89, of Hartselle, formerly of Cullman will be at 3 p.m., Tuesday, March 16, at Cullman Church of Christ, Ministers Ken Forrest, Phillip Hines, Lane Widick officiating with interment in Cullman Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Cullman Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Sims passed away March 13, 2021 at Cullman Regional Hospital. He was born January 3, 1932 to Percy Wilson & Edna Pearl Holt Sims. He was a Church of Christ minister for over 50 years. The last 15 years he worked with the prison ministry of the Cullman County Sheriff’s Dept.

Mr. Sims was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tim Sims; sister, Reba Faye Jacobs.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Merle Sims; sons, Darrell (Sue) Sims, Carroll Sims, David (Gail) Sims, Michael (Mindy) Sims; brother, Mancil (Shirley) Sims; grandchildren, Kristen (Lane) Widick, Leah (Philip) Garton, Tesha (Justin) Brewer, Drew Sims, Hunter Sims, Joseph (Diana) Sims, Sarah Sims, Jonathan (Chante) Sims, Hannah (John) Jackson, Anna Sims, Caleb Sims, Erin Sims; great-grandchildren, Josie Widick, LilyAnna & Liberty Garton, Cayden Brewer, Ali, Eli & Ava Sims, Ava Brewer, Walker Sims, Alex Sims, Austin Sims; family and friends.
