Ken Mangrum was born in Fairview, Tennessee, on June 6, 1937, to Lonnie and Aggie Hamilton Mangrum.  He went to be with our Savior on March 5, 2021, at the age of 83.

He attended Hillsboro High School and joined the Navy in 1955.  He was assigned to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, for four years with Sea Services in the far East and South Pacific as a Torpedoman Mate.

After his discharge from the Navy, he worked at GTE Automatic Electric in Chicago, Illinois, for ten years.  He was sent to Huntsville, Alabama, to open the GTE plant where he worked until his retirement.  During his employment, he also worked in the Port-A- Prince, Haiti, and Salinas, Mexico, as a consultant for GTE Sylvania Overseas Trading Corporation for 2 1/2 years.

He completed three years of extensive studies at UAH and Calhoun State Technical College.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister; two brothers; granddaughter; Noel Mangrum; and stepson, Randy Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Maybelle Kinney Nelson-Mangrum; sons, Mike (Pam) Mangrum and Greg Mangrum; stepson, Jeff Nelson (Debbie); and stepdaughter, Patti (Randy) Hasenbein; stepdaughter-in-law, Debbie Nelson; brothers, Emmitt Mangrum and Charles (Betsy) Mangrum of Fairview, Tennessee; grandchildren, Anna (John) Stephen, Will (Ashley) Hasenbein, Riley Nelson, Chelsea Nelson, Levi Nelson, Jessica (Christian) McHenry, Whitney (Dustin) Williams, Kinlee (Javier) Aviles, Chase (Haley) Nelson, and Michael (Emily) Mangrum; great-grandchildren, Brody Williams, Vayda Williams, Reece Williams, Ruby Nelson, and Ruthie Hasenbein.

He was a member of St. John’s Church in Cullman.  Now that he has gone to be with the Savior, there is a huge empty space in our lives that can never be filled, paved over, or eliminated. We thank God that we had Ken in our lives.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Enon Church Cemetery Fund.
