Hilda “Granna” was born Oct. 5, 1934 in Trade, Alabama and loved the Lord and her family. She was a constant prayer warrior for all of us. She loved getting to spend time with her family and was an amazing and loving caregiver to her husband of 65 years, John. She loved to read, trips to the beach and eating shrimp. She and John enjoyed traveling, living on St. Simmons Island and many wonderful trips to Gulf Shores over the years.

Hilda was a member of Smith Lake Baptist Church and loved getting to attend and worship with her church family until her husband’s health declined.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 65 years, John Allen Sandlin; daughter Tonya (Ben) Gilliland; grandsons Michael (Justin) Sandlin and Jonathan Suchey; step-grandchildren Carley (David) Croswell and Colin (Layna) Gilliland; a precious step-great granddaughter Ellison Rae Gilliland; sister Annie Lee Logan; sister-in-law Barbara Faye Speegle and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Betty (Tom) Pope; and a host of special nieces, nephews and family she held dear to her heart.

She is preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law Anthony Keith Sandlin and Glenda Marie Sandlin; parents Alton and Bertha Perdue; siblings and their spouses Jeanette (George) Robinson, Hoyt (Bertie) Perdue, Jesse (Vi) Perdue, and Tully Logan; and brother-in-law Felton Speegle.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Smith Lake Baptist Church Building Fund in her memory.
