CULLMAN, Ala. – Another Bearcat athlete celebrated the next stage of their academic and athletic career Wednesday. Tess Heaton was joined by friends, family and coaches at Cullman High School Wednesday as she signed a scholarship to run for the Wallace State Cross Country team and Coach Stan Narewski. Tess has run for both the cross country and track programs during her time at Cullman High School.

CHS Athletic Director Mark Stephens is proud to see how far Tess has come in her years running for the Bearcats and is excited to see how high she can continue to climb at the collegiate level.

“To see where Tess has progressed from her freshman year to her senior season, for her to be able to accomplish the things she has been able to do here at Cullman High School, we couldn’t be more proud,” Stephens said. “She is a true winner. Tess epitomizes why high school athletics are so important.”

CHS Track and Cross Country coach Trent Dean has seen Tess develop into a college runner firsthand and he will miss her production but more than anything else he will miss the leadership she displayed and the positive effect she had on her teammates.”

“We are so proud of Tess and all that she has accomplished for Cullman High School’s Cross Country and Track & Field programs but especially her positive leadership and being a tremendous teammate,” Dean said. “Her impact was very special, and we will miss her dearly.”
