CULLMAN, Ala. – Rep. Randall Shedd, R-Fairview last week received recognition from the United States Department of Defense for his work in the last legislative session supporting military families.

Shedd sponsored House Bill 100 and carried State Bill 143, which made it through the full legislative process to become law this year. It was one of the few statewide bills to make it through the legislative session, shortened due to COVID-19.

“This legislation provides that immediately upon receiving orders to relocate to Alabama from another state, dependents of military families are eligible for Alabama’s virtual schools, eliminating a tremendous problem for military families previously,” Shedd said in an email. “This legislation is one of a package of military bills promoted by Lt. Governor Will Ainsworth designed to make Alabama the most military-friendly state in the nation!”
