Vila Mary Parris Tyree, 95, of Arley entered into rest Monday, Aug. 24, 2020 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 4, 1925 in Winston County, Alabama.
She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020 from 6-8 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church in the Helicon community, where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. She will lie in state from 10-11 a.m. Thursday. Reverend Kerry Cleghorn and Reverend Greg Dollar will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.
Vila is survived by her son Steve Tyree and his wife Glenda; daughters Sandra P. Hicks, and Jayne Waldrep and her husband Michael; brother Bobby Parris; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dolphus Tyree; parents Elton D. Parris and Burvie Jane Hill Parris; son Ricky Tyree; brother Nathan Parris; and sisters Lorene Woodard, Gladys Parris, Lillibell Woodard, Christene Camp and Audrey Stricklin.
