Ann Barton Posey, 93, peacefully passed away April 28, 2020. She was born March 22, 1927.

Ann grew up in the Norwood neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. As a young girl, she enjoyed spending Saturdays with her younger sister, Francis, walking to both the Alabama Theatre and the Lyric Theatre to watch live shows and films. She attended Phillips High School in Birmingham, where she formed lifelong friends and many memories. After graduation, she said goodbye to several classmates leaving for the war, some of whom did not return.

She then attended Howard College in Birmingham where she met a young handsome man that had recently returned from WWII. His name was John, and he was soon to become her husband. After John Jr. completed law school, they moved to Haleyville where they raised their family.

Ann was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Haleyville. Her love of bridge began early, playing both with her local bridge club and later duplicate bridge in Birmingham. She always enjoyed ballroom dancing, especially at The Club. She also was an avid watercolor artist and also enjoyed traveling abroad. In her later years, she cherished her time as a grandmother to four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents Sanford and Allie Barton; her husband John Posey, Jr.; her sister Francis Brooks; her daughter Susan Posey Logan; her son-in-law Phil Logan; and brother-in-law Jack Brooks.

She is survived by her sons David Posey (Mitzie) and John Posey III (Wenxia Li); grandchildren Celeste Whiteside (Sean), Kim Finkelstein, Maridy Shiner (Chris) and Jesse Posey (Maria); great-grandchildren John Whiteside, Posey Whiteside, Logan Finkelstein, Katheryn Shiner, Harrison Shiner and Julia Shiner; and nephews Randy Brooks and Brad Brooks.

She was part of the Greatest Generation, which we may never see again.
