Obituary: Rev. David William McDonald

David William McDonald of Hanceville passed away April 17, 2020 at the age of 88. He was born in Cullman Feb. 20, 1932 to James Ocie and Mae Gamble McDonald.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bobby, Sherman, Wallace and Wayne McDonald; and sisters Lynell Davis and Helen Duke.

A private graveside service will be Monday, April 20, 2020.

David is a U.S. Army veteran. David started preaching in 1973 and preached until he retired in 2014. David was also in the logging business and he worked as a logger into his 80s. David had a loving heart and he loved to share the gospel with everyone. He was always reading the Bible and teaching his son and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family. David loved to go out to eat, raise cattle, ride his tractor, visit the sick and just making people happy. David enjoyed helping people, he would always pick up the ladies of the congregation that did not drive and bring them to church.

He is survived by his wife Inez McDonald; son Dr. Marty (Lynn) McDonald; grandchildren Brett McDonald, Derek McDonald and Dr. Ben (Carley) McDonald; sisters Mary Ann Sams and Martha Todd; and brother Luther McDonald.

The family will be announcing a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at a later date.
