CULLMAN, Ala. – In the week of April 6, when students were scheduled to return from this week’s Spring Break, both Cullman County Schools and Cullman City Schools will resume the drive-thru distribution of meal packs to students who may need extra nutritional support.

Cullman City Schools Superintendent Dr. Susan Patterson told The Tribune, “Cullman City Schools will resume our meal pick-up program on April 6, 2020.  We will be distributing meals on Monday and Thursday between 10:30 and 12:30. We will be providing three breakfasts and three lunches on Monday, and four breakfast and four lunches on Thursday.”

The system distributes meals at West Elementary School.

Cullman County Schools Superintendent Dr. Shane Barnette said, “We’ll start back April 6. It’ll be the same as what we’ve been doing: Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week.”

Barnette added, “We would like to brag on our Child Nutrition workers, because of how hard they’ve been working. Last week, one day we fed over 12,000 meals, which is phenomenal, and we’re going to start back on April 6. We’re regrouping this week while we put together our plans to roll out instruction and so forth. We’re doing a lot of planning this week but, beginning April 6, we’ll continue feeding three days a week. And each of those days, we’ll be giving them two breakfasts and two lunches.

“Our lunchroom ladies have really worked very diligently in having it all prepared. We really appreciate them and couldn’t brag on them enough.

“Going forward, all of our employees will be rotating in and doing different things. I know our bus drivers will be helping hand out meals, and then our teachers will be back and offering instruction and so forth, as well, beginning April 6.”

Meals can be picked up between 10 a.m.-noon at:

  • Fairview High School
  • Good Hope High School
  • Hanceville High School
  • Harmony School
  • Holly Pond High School
  • Vinemont High School
  • West Point High School
