(Bonus) Pet of the Week: Let Ajax be your hero!

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman County Animal Shelter has extra love to share right now, so Donna Ruttkay shares a bonus Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:

Ajax is a 1-year-old pit bull mix. He’s a tough-looking, but mild-mannered medium-energy pet who is submissive to his people. He enjoys getting out and is developing his leash skills, with good spatial awareness, and he’s ready to go for a walk; all the recent rain has given him a case of cabin fever! On those cold day walks, he also likes to wear his doggie coat.

Ruttkay reported Ajax enjoys relaxing around people, and his favorite spot is resting on a rug behind the shelter’s desk.

Ajax has the makings of a good companion or hiking dog.

Ajax’s adoption fee is $100 which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 30-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s canine friends have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
