Wallace State Continuing Ed classes offer wide range of subjects

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Wallace State’s Continuing Education program is hitting the ground running for the Spring 2020 semester, and there are still plenty of opportunities to take part in a wide range of classes.

This month learn the basics of Excel spreadsheet software. This two-session class will teach how to use the shortcut menus, how to successfully use the help function, selecting cells and ranges, how to create worksheets, and about formula and function basics. The class will meet Jan. 28 and 29 from 1-3 p.m. The cost is $15.

Advanced classes will be held in February and March, with Excel: Beyond the Basics Feb. 10 and 12 and Excel: Advanced March 2 and 4, each from 1-3 p.m. and each for $50.

An Introduction to Graphics class will be held March 5, 12 and 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., for $50. A Basic Computer Skills class will be held April 13, 16, 20 and 23 from 5-7 p.m., with a cost of $40. Designing Logos is the subject of a class to be held April 2, 9 and 16 for $50.

For those with a green thumb or those who want to improve their gardening skills, a Vegetable Gardening class will be held Feb. 4, 11, 18 and 25 from 5:30-6:30 p.m., at a cost of $35. Structural Pruning and Training for Young Trees will be held Feb. 20 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at a cost of $25. Proper Planting Using ANSI Standards is scheduled for Feb. 27 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., for $25.

Additionally, there will be two certification preparation courses offered in April and May. You can choose to attend one of two Setting of Landscape Plants Certification Prep courses on April 6 and May 4 for $35, and one of two Commercial Pesticide Application Certification Prep courses on April 13 or May 8. The cost is $35 for each. All classes are scheduled from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

An Outdoor Equipment Repair Class is planned for March 3, 10 and 17 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at a cost of $75. A Beef Production Seminar is set for March 23, 24 and 26 from 5-8 p.m., for $50.

Two courses are being offered in Spanish. Conversational Spanish will be offered Feb. 11, 13, 18 and 20 from 7-7:30 p.m., for a $55 fee. Conversational Spanish for the Construction Industry is set for April 28 and 30 from 6-8 p.m., at a cost of $50.
