Obituary: Mildred James Brown

Mildred Wilodean James Brown, 88, of Arley passed away Jan. 4, 2020.

Mildred was born Sept. 20, 1931 in Cullman, Alabama to Charlie and Berlie James.

She went to West Point School in West Point, Alabama. She married her husband Harold Brown in 1955. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in the Helicon community for over 60 years. Mildred loved to cook and make quilts. She also enjoyed bird watching, gardening (both flowers and vegetables), and she loved her pets. Mildred loved her family, especially her grandchildren, but most of all she loved Jesus.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison from 5-8 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2020 at Liberty Baptist Church in the Helicon community at 2 p.m. She will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Brother Mark Brown and Brother Rick Williams will officiate.

She is survived by her sons Byron Brown and Mark (Deborah) Brown; daughters Sandy (Gene) Jordan and Kim (Rick) Williams; grandchildren Ethan (Brooke) Jordan, Eli (Jessica) Jordan and Jake brown; great-granddaughter Raeleigh Jordan; a host of nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law Madge White and Colleen Brown.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Harold Madison Brown; son Larry Madison Brown; father Charlie James; mother Berlie James; sisters Marie Hines and Imogene Cornelius; and brothers Ralph James and Owen James.
