Teen dies from injuries sustained in Cullman Co. wreck


CULLMAN COUNTY, Ala. – A 16-year-old girl from Arab died Friday from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that happened Monday, Dec. 23 in Cullman County.

According to Alabama State Troopers, the victim was a passenger in a 2008 Nissan Xterra driven by Roger Dale Fortenberry, 67, of Arab. The Nissan collided head-on with a 1998 Cadillac DeVille driven by Kelvin Rex Hathcote, 49, of Hanceville.

Troopers said the victim, who was not restrained, was seriously injured and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital where she died Friday at 5:38 p.m. Both drivers were injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 231, 2 miles south of Arab.

Nothing further is available as ALEA Troopers continue to investigate.
