HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Four Wallace State Community College employees were recognized recently as Chancellor’s Award recipients at the 2019 Alabama Community College Association (ACCA) Conference in Montgomery.

Wallace State’s recipients were Wes Rakestraw, Dr. Stacey Sivley, April Sutherland and Theresa Mahler.

Rakestraw is the director of the Wallace State-Oneonta campus and the Administrator selection. Sivley is a longtime math instructor at Wallace State and the Academic Faculty selection this year. Sutherland, who is program director of Wallace State’s Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, earned the Technical Faculty selection. Mahler, administrative assistant to the Dean of Students, is the Staff Member selection.

The Chancellor’s Awards began more than 30 years ago as a way to reward and encourage those who have exemplified outstanding performance, creativity and dedicated service to their college.

The ACCA Conference is held each November at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel and Spa at the Convention Center.

Wallace State’s Fine and Performing Arts Department performed prior to the conference’s first general session and the college’s ambassadors also served a key role throughout the conference.
