4-way race set for Cullman County Commission Chairman

CULLMAN, Ala. – Candidates had until Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 at 5 p.m. to qualify for the 2020 primary election in Alabama.

Cullman County Republican Party Chairman Steve Cummings said the following candidates have qualified for local races: 

Cullman County Revenue Commissioner- Barry Willingham

Cullman County Commission Chairman- Kenneth Walker (incumbent), Jeff “Clem” Clemons, Wiley Kitchens, Philip Widner

Cullman County School Board- Holly Pond- Heath Allbright

Cullman County School Board- Cold Springs- Wayne Myrex

Cullman County School Board- West Point/Harmony- Gene Sullins, Wayne Willingham

The local Democratic Party had no candidates qualify.

“Also, I was informed that Melvin (Hasting) is running for a statewide office,” said Cummings. “He is running for the State Court of Criminal Appeals. His opponent is Chief Justice Mary (Windom).”

The Cullman County Republican Party on Dec. 7 will host the four Cullman County Commission Chairman candidates at its monthly breakfast meeting.

Alabama’s primary is set for March 3, 2020.
