CULLMAN, Ala. – Cullman County Animal Shelter Volunteer Donna Ruttkay introduces The Cullman Tribune Pet of the Week:

Biggie Bear is an 8-month-old Akita mix. Though he’s just barely past the puppy phase, he’s already a laid-back, low- to medium-energy pet. He’s great on the leash, well-behaved and is quiet in his kennel. He craves human contact and even enjoys a good massage. Ruttkay describes his personality as “gentleman-plus!”

Biggie Bear has the makings of a great companion or therapy dog.

Discount doggie!

Biggie Bear had already been neutered when he arrived at the shelter, so his adoption fee will be greatly reduced. Check with shelter staff for details and exact cost.

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior. Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as therapy and special needs service dogs.

Please consider adopting, to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
