PREP SWIMMING: Cullman boys, girls place 2nd at home meet

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Cullman High School Swim Team was back home at the Cullman Wellness and Aquatic Center Thursday to host Arab, Guntersville and Westminster Christian for their second meet of the season. The Bearcat boys’ and girls’ squad each defeated Arab and Guntersville but fell to defending state champions Westminster Christian, placing second overall. Ruby Hudson and CJ Arnold secured first play finishes for Cullman in the 50-yard freestyle and 50-yard backstroke respectively and Brody Schaefer placed first in the 200-yard freestyle.

The meet was full of personal best performances in a wide range of events. In the girls 50-yard freestyle, Anna Page and Morgan Fuller posted new personal records of 28.40 and 30.04 respectively while Peyton Arnold recorded a 33.60 and Sarah Johnson swam a 33.48 to collect personal records of their own.

Fuller also posted a 33.63 to finish with a new personal best in the 50-yard butterfly and Chase Duncan posted a 34.52 in the same event to finish with his personal best. Arnold swam a 39.38 to collect a personal best in the 50-yard backstroke and Johnson posted a 40.27 to take home her personal record in the same event. Arnold finished with a new personal best of 41.18 in the 50-yard breaststroke.

The CHS Swim Team will be back at home September 26th for its final sprint format meet of the season.
