GADSDEN, Ala. – Vinemont traveled to Gadsden to face off against the Westbrook Christian Warriors in a non-region matchup. It wasn’t Vinemont’s night; on its first possession the Eagles offense had the ball bounce out of the back of the end zone resulting in a touchback. On the fourth play for Westbrook Christian, Dallin Dinkle intercepted the pass, giving the ball back to the Eagle offense.

A failed fourth down conversion put an end to the Eagle drive. But once again, the defense stepped up to force a punt. Westbrook Christian would answer, forcing its own three-and-out. After a lengthy drive, all on the ground, the Warriors found the end zone with 5:40 remaining in the first half to give them a 7-0 advantage. Another three-and-out led to a Westbrook Christian touchdown with 2:31 remaining in the opening half to extend the lead to 14-0. After turning the ball over, Vinemont’s defense forced a fourth down, but a pass interference penalty extended the drive and Westbrook Christian took advantage scoring with only 53 seconds making it 21-0 at halftime.

Westbrook Christian received the second half kick-off and quickly added to their lead going ahead 28-0 just 1:30 into the second half. Westbrook Christian added another score with 7:09 remaining in the game, which ended being the final score of the game in a 35-0 shutout.

The Eagles will try to shake this one off and bounce back next week when they host Midfield for a regional matchup.
