MIDFIELD, Ala. – Holly Pond hit the road to open region play Friday night and after falling behind big early, the Broncos weren’t able to keep pace with Midfield and fell to the Patriots 44-28.

Midfield scored midway through the first to go up 8-0 and extended that lead to 16-0 early in the second quarter. Another Patriots touchdown shortly after that made it a 24-0 game with just over 10 minutes to play in the half. Midfield tacked on another score midway through the second to take a 30-0 lead, but the Broncos punched one in just before halftime to make it a 30-8 game at the break.

The Patriots got that score back midway through the third when they found the end zone to go up 38-8 but Holly Pond answered with a score of its own to make it 38-14 at the start of the final frame. Another Broncos touchdown came with just over five minutes to play that cut it to 38-20 but the Patriots responded and moved back in front 44-20. Holly Pond found the end zone one more time to make it 44-28 but it was too little too late, and the Broncos were sent home with a loss.

Holly Pond will look to bounce back and get back on the winning side of things when it hosts Hanceville next week.
