Good Hope anglers Arnold, Curington narrowly miss final round of Mossy Oak Fishing High School Championship

PARIS, Tenn. – Kentucky Lake is the site of this year’s Mossy Oak Fishing High School Championship and a pair of local boats were out on the water competing. Good Hope Fishing Team is represented on Kentucky Lake by Colton Williams and Landon Graham in one boat and Alex Curington and Breanna Arnold in another.

Anglers hit the water at 6 a.m. on Thursday and after day one, Curington and Arnold found themselves near the top of the leaderboard. Weighing in at 14lbs. 4oz. after reeling in four fish, the pair of Raiders sat in fifth place in a field of over 200 elite high school anglers. Williams and Graham finished day one outside of the top 100 after weighing in at 3lbs. 15oz.

The tournament resumed Friday morning and after day two, only the top 12 boats can advance to Saturday’s championship round. Williams and Graham improved on day one with 4lbs. 8oz. on day two but it wasn’t enough to get them into the final group.

Curington and Arnold reeled in 5lbs. 3oz. on day two to bring their two-day total to 19lbs. 7oz, moving them into the top five at the time of their weigh in. As more boats continued to weigh in, the Raider anglers were knocked just outside of the top 12, finishing 16th and ending their run at this year’s tournament.
