BREMEN, Ala. – In one of the most energetic show themes around, the Cold Springs Royal Blue Band plans to get the audience up and dancing at every performance of its show, “Bust a Move.” The show will feature songs known for their famous dances like “Y.M.C.A.,” “Greased Lightning,” “Ice Ice Baby,” “U Can’t Touch This,” “Apache,” “Thriller” and “Smooth Criminal.”

Band Director William Johnson said he chose the theme because he wanted a show “that would not only be fun for the kids to learn but one that the audiences would truly enjoy listening to and watching every Friday night.”

When asked how band camp went, Johnson commented, “Band camp was awesome this year! I cannot express how pleased I am with the worth ethic and dedication of my band students. The senior band members in particular have really stepped up and taken an active role in leadership this year and have made the band a true family. They have made this year’s band camp one of the most enjoyable and rememberable band camps in my tenure as a band director. There is no doubt that it is going to be exciting and fun to see how this group matures and grows musically throughout the year!”

Later this year, the Royal Blue Band will compete in Hanceville High School’s Mud Creek Marching Festival. There will also be a second competition, but it has yet to be determined.
