BREMEN, Ala. – Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on scene shortly after a call came into dispatch regarding a road rage incident that turned potentially deadly on Co Rd 160 in Bremen, Saturday evening.

“On July 6, 2019 at approximately 6:45 p.m. a road rage incident occurred on Hwy 69 in Dodge City, which carried over to a residence on County Road 160 in Bremen,” Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry told The Tribune early Sunday morning.

Erica Ann Sewell Cole, 31, was arrested last night and charged with attempted murder, reckless endangerment and assault-2nd degree following the initial investigation.

Cullman County Sheriff Matt Gentry told the Tribune early Sunday morning the incident in question was reported shortly before 7 p.m. when a call was received by dispatchers regarding a man being shot following a possible road rage incident in Bremen.

“During the incident an altercation occurred in which, the offender Erica Cole attempted to shoot a second party but shot her husband Nicholas Cole, striking him in the head,” he said. “During this investigation the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office worked in conjunction with the Cullman County District Attorney’s Office. Erica Cole was arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault 2nd and Reckless Endangerment.”

Gentry said the man was transported to UAB where he was listed in stable condition.

“He was alert and talking with us last night,” he said.

According to multiple sources, a road rage incident, which began elsewhere, ended at in front of a home located on Co Rd 160 in Bremen. Initial reports stated the man shot was transported to UAB via ground.

“Due to this case still being an ongoing investigation there will be limited details that can be released,” he said.

Cole is currently being held at the Cullman County Detention Center. No bond was set.
