CULLMAN, Ala. –The Cullman High School Class of 1954 met for lunch at Stone Bridge Farms Thursday to celebrate their 65th high school reunion. The classmates planned three days of activities including lunch Friday at the West Point Brandin’ Iron and breakfast Saturday morning at the home of Ruben and Shelba Williams.

The group met in the Cigar Room at Stone Bridge and enjoyed catching up with each other while remembering their classmates who have passed. Billy and Shirley (Lovelady) Cheatwood drove from Melbourne, Florida to spend three days with their lifelong friends.

They laughed and reminisced about places like the Globe, College Circle, The Lyric Theater, the Ritz Theater and the Cullman Theater.

Chris Doss treated his classmates by telling the fascinating history of the founding of Cullman. Class Secretary Hulda Teichmiller Schaefers gave updates on those classmates unable to attend the reunion. Doss praised Schaefers and the reunion committee, “We need to give the committee a real hand and we need to give Hulda a BIG hand for having been the secretary for many years.”

The Class of ’54 graduated from Cullman when what is now Cullman Middle School was the high school. There were between 140-150 graduates in the class and 15 of them came out for Thursday’s lunch. The committee also has mini-reunions planned at the Golden Corral in Cullman on September 26 and December 12 at 11:30 a.m.
