CULLMAN, Ala. – On Friday, May 17, Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism (CP&R) will hold its third annual Dinner on First event, beginning at 6 p.m. on First Avenue Northeast in downtown Cullman’s historic Warehouse District.

CP&R Marketing Coordinator Jasef Wisener shared, “The street will be adorned with festive string lighting, and the event will be accompanied by the sounds of live music.  An almost endless supply of hors d’oeuvres will available to attendees, along with wine and beer during the pre-party. The post-party will feature live entertainment and a full-service cash bar.  It will be a truly magical evening for the Cullman community. Both the pre- and post-party will be held at Mae’s Food Hall.”

The inaugural Dinner on First was in May 2016 and benefited the Connected Park Project, a concept that would impact the recreational play of children no matter their ages or abilities.

“We achieved this goal in 2018, opening the Connected Playground at Margaret Ingle Park,” said Wisener, who continued, “Dinner on First offered an opportunity for the Cullman community to come together as one to benefit something meaningful, and it provided a splendid moment in time in which residents could connect with their friends and neighbors, as well as the Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism Foundation Board members who have gone to extraordinary lengths making the gathering a night to remember.”

This year’s Dinner on First will be catered by Mountain Brook’s Dyron’s Lowcountry, with the main meal being farm-to-table style.

All proceeds from this year’s event will go to construction of an amphitheater at the newly renovated Art Park on Main Avenue Southwest.

Christy Turner, CP&R recreational development director, shared, “The arts are incredibly important to us at Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism, and have a growing support in the community. We’re hoping that this year’s Dinner on First will help give new life and purpose to Art Park by allowing for the addition of a brand new amphitheater.”

Dinner on First is an outdoor event.  Should weather force a postponement of the event on Friday, May 17, the makeup date will be the following day, Saturday, May 18.

Tickets are available online now at http://dinneronfirst.com.

Said Wisener, “No physical tickets will be necessary; anyone who has purchased a ticket will be on a list, and attendees will simply have (their names) marked off the list upon arrival.”
