Obituary: J.C. Baker

J.C. Baker, 81, of Hanceville passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019. He was born Jan. 20, 1938 to Euis and Pluma Vaughn Baker.

Mr. Baker was a maintenance supervisor, working for Golden Rod for many years. J.C. loved to work in the yard and had a talent for growing beautiful flowers. After the death of his beloved wife, Frances, J.C. could be found in the cemetery visiting with her and keeping her grave maintained. J.C., often called Paw Paw, loved his family. He cherished his wife and daughters, and as his little family grew into a big family, his pride and adoration for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was evident. J.C. touched many lives and he will be missed greatly.

Mr. Baker is preceded in death by his parents, Euis and Pluma Baker, and his wife of 60 years, Frances Ballard Baker.

Survivors include his daughters, Pam Fields, Edith (James) Roberts; brothers, Jr. (Jane) Baker, Frank (Betty) Baker; sister, Barbara (Howard) Love; grandchildren, Ron (Heather) Fields, Cody (Jamie) Fields, Brandy (Brad) Twilley, Christopher Roberts; great-grandchildren, Parker Twilley, Colton Roberts, Karrigan, Ely, Adalyn, Anzlie; and his little dog, Bama.

Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in the Holly Pond Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Hanceville, Alabama. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
