Delwyn “Del” Bates, 78, of Cullman passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2019.
Mr. Bates was a loving husband, father and friend. He was a very talented musician and was known for playing the mandolin and piano by ear. He loved to coon hunt and was a member of the Cullman County Coon Hunters Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Lincoln and Lona Bates; son, Byron Holdbrooks and brothers: Gene Bates, Floyd Bates and Mervin Bates.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Connie Bates; son, Jeff Bates; daughters: Sherri Shellby, Kerri Bingham and Nicole (Baron) Wood sisters: Wilda Kohlenberg and Trilba Sue Estep; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
His family will receive friends on Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Service for Delwyn Bates will be held in the chapel of Moss Service on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Malcolm Carter officiating.
