FAIRVIEW, Ala. – The Lady Aggies hosted Vinemont Friday afternoon and despite having the go-ahead run at the plate in the top of the seventh, the Lady Eagles fell on the road 7-5.

Fairview built a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first by scoring on three errors and an RBI single from Anna Scott. Vinemont was able to cut the lead to 4-2 in the top of the second by scoring on a fielder’s choice and a bases-loaded walk, but the Lady Aggies went back up by three in the bottom when Tess Bailey tagged up to score on a Katie Ball sacrifice fly.

MacKenzie Lawrence made it a 5-3 game with a solo homerun in the top of the fifth but Fairview added a run on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the inning to go up 6-3 and stretched the lead to 7-3 in the sixth with an RBI double from Kaitlyn Benson.

With just three outs remaining for the Lady Eagles, RBI singles from Emma Dortch and Maci Smith trimmed the lead to 7-5 but they couldn’t plate anymore runs than that and the Lady Aggies held on to win it 7-5.

Scott (one hit) finished with two RBIs in the Fairview and Benson (one hit) and Ball (one hit) each drove in a run as well. Lawrence went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the loss for Vinemont Smith (two RBIs), Dortch (one RBI) and Maddie Oliver each recorded hits as well.

The Lady Bulldogs struck first in their opening at-bats on an RBI single, but the Lady Tigers countered in their half as Abby Phillips hit an RBI single and Bailee Fincher added an RBI groundout to give them a 2-1 lead after one.

Neither team scored until the fourth inning as Dora re-took the lead on a two-run single, then they added two more in the inning on an error and a passed ball to increase their lead to 5-2.

Meek got something going in their half as they drew a walk to load the bases with two outs for Madison Smith, who hit a two-run single to cut it to 5-4. Savannah Smith scored on an error to tie the game and Fincher added a two-run single to give Meek a 7-5 advantage. Dora added a run in the fifth on an error.

Meek took complete control of the game in their half. Reagan Blackwell scored on an error, Brooke Cleghorn hit an RBI single and Madison Smith hit a three-run home run as the Lady Tigers wound up pulling away late to take the game 12-6.
