PREP SOCCER: Cullman falls to Pelham 3-0, Fairview drops pair of games at Guntersville

CULLMAN, Ala. – The Bearcats hosted the Pelham Panthers on a cold, windy Tuesday night and dropped to 0-6 on the season after falling to the Panthers.

Pelham struck first in the 21st minute to make it 1-0 and the Bearcats were able to hold the score there going into the halftime break. The Panthers created some separation early in the second half with goals in the 57th and 58th minute and they held on to secure a 3-0 win on the road.

Cullman will look respond and pick up its first win of the season when it travels to Grissom on Friday.

Guntersville 10 – Fairview 0 (varsity girls)

The Lady Aggies fell to 0-3 on the season Tuesday night when they fell to Guntersville on the road. Addi Eddleman collected 19 saves for Fairview in the loss and Coach Nick Feldner was impressed with sophomore center back Jasmine Cortes’ performance.

The Lady Aggies will try to bounce back and pick up their first win of the season when they travel to Good Hope March 12th.

Guntersville 5 – Fairview 2 (varsity boys)

Guntersville jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in this one, but Fairview’s AB Diaz connected with Bailey Byrd who put one in the back of the net to make it a 2-1 game. Guntersville tacked on another goal late in the first half and extended the lead to 4-1 in the 25th minute of the second half.

Diaz scored to trim the lead to 4-2 but Guntersville added another goal in the final minutes of the game to seal a 5-2 win. The Aggies will look to get back in the win column when they travel to Good Hope to take on the Raiders March 12th.
