CULLMAN – If your New Year’s resolution is to get more exercise, learn something new, meet new people or all of the above, Goat Island Brewing has exactly what you need! Goat Island is offering Carolina Shag dancing lessons throughout January.

Carolina Shag is a style of swing dance popularized on the beaches of North and South Carolina. Coach Andy Page and his wife Liz will be teaching the lessons, which are for anyone. Partners are not required.

The classes will be on Tuesday nights (Jan.  8, 15 and 22) from 7-8 p.m. Lessons are $5 per person and all proceeds from the lessons will benefit Cullman Parks, Recreation, & Sports Tourism.

Hillary Brewer, entertainment director at Goat Island, said she wanted to bring in a fun and different activity during the slower times of the week.

Said Brewer, “Right now we will see how this goes and if this is a hit, we might look into hosting more events like this.”
