CULLMAN – Cullman County Animal Shelter volunteer Donna Ruttkay introduces us to The Cullman Tribune’s Pet of the Week.

If you were at the Furry 5K at Depot Park last Friday evening, you might have gotten to meet Nimbo, one of the pups brought out by shelter staff.  He’s a 1-year-old Husky mix. A laid-back, low-energy pet, he could have a future as a companion, comfort or therapy dog. He enjoys walking on the leash, and according to Ruttkay, when he walks, “He floats, as he strides across the ground, like the nimbostratus clouds that cover the sky.”

Animal shelter staff and volunteers work with their dogs to make sure they are accustomed to being around people, walking on a leash and practicing good behavior.  Several of the shelter’s dogs have even been “hired” to work as special needs service dogs.

Nimbo’s adoption fee is $90, which includes: DHLPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccines, rabies vaccine, wormer, general exam at the vet, neutering, microchip, free 45-day health insurance policy issued by 24PetWatch (with valid email only) and a free bag of food from Cullman Pet Depot (you must pay sales tax).

Please consider adopting to give a rescued pet a chance at a happy and healthy life.
