Hayden 4, Fairview 3 (BB)

Lane Schnittker gave Fairview another solid outing Tuesday, but the Aggies’ offense couldn't cash in on multiple opportunities in a tough area loss to Hayden on the road.

They wasted a golden opportunity to put the first run on the scoreboard in the second inning with a runner on third and one out, but the third inning was a much different story for the Aggies. Riley Carroll drew a one-out walk, then a Schnittker double to left field put runners on second and third with one out. Dayne Black hit an RBI single to put Fairview on the scoreboard, then one out later, Dalton Payne hit an RBI infield single to give them a 2-0 lead.

Hayden put up all its runs in their half of the inning. Preston Key drew a lead-off walk, then Duncan McReath lined a single to right field. Dakota Green reached on an error by the third baseman, Dalton Payne, which allowed Key to score to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard. Nicholas Purvis then tied the game at two with an RBI infield single, then after Ben Abernathy struck out, Kade Marlin lined an RBI double to left field and Dakota Snow followed that up with an RBI single to make it a 4-2 advantage for Hayden.

A Garrett Dunn one-out single in the fourth, followed by a Carroll RBI double to left field, cut the Aggies’ deficit to just one at 4-3 and Fairview looked to add some more to the run column. Schnittker added an infield single, then one out later, Truman Boyd loaded the bases with a walk, but Payne grounded out to end the inning. Scoot Bennett and Dunn hit back-to-back two-out singles in the fifth to give the Aggies another chance to either tie the game or take the lead. After both runners advanced on a passed ball, Carroll grounded out to end the inning.

The Aggies had one more chance to win the game in their final at-bats. Payne led off the inning with a double, but three straight outs later, Fairview was left to wonder what might has been as they lost a heartbreaker on the road.

Payne had three hits and an RBI for Fairview. Carroll (one run scored) and Black each added a hit and an RBI. Dunn and Schnittker each had two hits and a run scored in the game. Boyd and Bennett each collected a hit. Schnittker gave up nine hits, four runs, walked one and struck out two in his complete game outing. The Aggies fall to 13-9 overall and 0-1 in the region and will play a doubleheader at home against Hayden on Thursday.

Locust Fork 7, Holly Pond 0 (SB)

The Lady Broncos couldn't get their offense going Tuesday, as they collected just three hits in their shut-out loss to Locust Fork.

The Lady Hornets put up two runs in the first inning, one in the second and two more in the third and fourth innings to put Holly Pond in an early hole.

Katie Burnham, Kolby Holcombe and Madison Rickman had the hits for Holly Pond. The Lady Broncos fall to 6-12 overall and will face off against Cold Springs on April 16 at home.
