PREP SOCCER: Bearcats beaten, 4-1, by Briarwood Christian

CULLMAN – Briarwood Christian traveled to Cullman Thursday night for a matchup with the Bearcats, and after a one-sided second half, came up with a 4-1 road win.

Cullman’s Miguel Tizapa found the back of the net early in the first half but after some defensive adjustments from the Lions, the Bearcats were unable to get on the scoreboard again. Briarwood was able to score in the first half as well to tie the game up at one at halftime and the second half was all Lions.

Briarwood went up 2-1 early in the second half before scoring again on a free kick in the 19th minute to take a 3-1 lead. The Lions were able to add one more goal in the 11th minute to put the match away and claim the 4-1 victory.

Cullman spent a lot of the second half playing defense as they weren’t able to create enough scoring opportunities offensively. Briarwood’s size and speed made things difficult for the Cullman defenders and forwards all night.

The ‘Cats will look to bounce back with a win on the road against 7A powerhouse Vestavia Hills Tuesday, April 3 with the postseason fast approaching.

Cullman Soccer’s record this year is now 10-4-2.
