VINEMONT – A Vinemont woman died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday evening, according to Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick, who identified the victim as Kendra Elizabeth Johnson, 34.

Johnson was driving a 2002 Chevrolet truck, hit a guardrail and overturned, said Alabama State Troopers. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, Joshua Robert Mentzer, 21, of Hanceville was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital. Troopers said neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 p.m. in the 2000 block of County Road 1223 near Longview Church of God.

Members of the Vinemont-Providence Volunteer Fire Department were at the scene, along with Kilpatrick, and members of Cullman EMS, the Cullman County Sheriff's Office and Alabama State Troopers.

The road was completely shut down for a little more than two hours.

Nothing further is available as Troopers continue to investigate.
