Merchants Bank promotes Ross West

CULLMAN – The Board of Directors of Merchants Bank of Alabama is pleased to announce that Ross West has been promoted to vice president – loans.

West has been with the bank for more than 10 years, initially starting part-time while continuing his education. West worked through the internal areas of the bank and moved into the loan collection area four years ago. He has had lending responsibilities in the consumer and real estate areas, as well as with small business customers of the bank. West is also active in business development and assisting customers with their financial needs in relation to loans and financial planning.

West is a graduate of Wallace State Community College and the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and recently completed the Alabama Banking School held at the University of South Alabama, an extensive three-year program.

Steve Glasscock, chief executive officer and chairman of the board, said, “Ross has been a member of the Merchants Bank family for several years, starting at a young age and working through many areas of the bank. His energetic and positive attitude toward assisting customers in all the areas and now in the loan function is an outstanding attribute which his customers appreciate on a daily basis.”

West is a native of Cullman County and is active in several local civic and community matters.
