VINEMONT –  A Vinemont woman was arrested and jailed on Friday, Sept. 1 for human trafficking. Stefanie Nichole Weaver, 23, is charged with second-degree sodomy, facilitating the travel of a child for an unlawful sex act and first-degree human trafficking.

According to a media release from the Cullman County Sheriff's Office, CCSO investigators discovered that Weaver allegedly met a juvenile on Facebook and traveled to Ohio to meet the victim. The suspect allegedly admitted to CCSO investigators that once she was in Ohio she had knowledge of the minor's true age. Weaver allegedly had a sexual relationship with the minor in Ohio and in Cullman County after she transported the minor here. The minor was reported as a runaway juvenile from Ohio and was located by the CCSO.

Because the crime involves a minor, no further details are being released by the CCSO.

“This case is disturbing on many levels. I tell parents all the time to always watch who your children are talking to on social media because predators use social media. Also, it shows that predators will drive hundreds of miles, so we as parents and law enforcement have to stay vigilant in this new social media age,” said Sheriff Matt Gentry. “I would like to thank our investigators for their prompt and immediate work in this case.”

Weaver is currently being held in the Cullman County Detention Center on a $150,000 bond.
