CULLMAN COUNTY – A car chase involving the Cullman County Sheriff's Office ended in a crash near the end of County Road 437 and Smith Lake late Monday evening. The Cullman City Police Department was also involved, according to Loretto Volunteer Fire Department Captain Justin Prince.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) assisted on the scene.

A local resident reported at approximately 11:20 p.m., "A vehicle (was being) pursued by at least two police cars (and) hit the dirt barrier. (An) ambulance just responded."

ALEA confirmed that there was a chase ending in a crash, with a member of the north communications team stating, "The County was involved in a chase."

We are awaiting details from the CCSO and CPD.

This is a developing story.
