Saints, Lady Saints shut out Fairview at home

CULLMAN – St. Bernard picked up its first win of the soccer season at home Thursday night, shutting out Fairview 9-0.

The Saints got control of the match in the first half, taking a 4-0 lead to intermission.

Miguel Sanchez had the hat trick for the Saints with three goals while Christian Peterson and JC Rose scored twice and Carson Holmes and and Lexis Gallegos scored one goal. Anthony Diaz and Graham Sanders rotated at goal keeper for John Drake's Saints, keeping the Aggies off the scoreboard.

St. Bernard put the game well out of reach with five goals in the final minute to improve to 2-1 on the season.

 

St. Bernard girls win 1-0:

Bridget Gallegos scored the only goal for the Lady Saints in the opening half, that turned out to be the difference in a hard fought contest with the Fairview Lady Aggies.

Emma Tafazoli stood out well in goal for the Lady Saints, now 2-1 after a good performance on the home turf.

Area play for the Saints and Lady Saints begins Tuesday vs. Whitesburg Christian.
