Victim in Tuesday night’s fiery crash ID’d

GARDEN CITY – The victim in Tuesday night's fiery, fatal crash in Garden City has been identified. David Rouse, 32, of Cullman County, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick.

According to reports, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Rouse was traveling south on U.S. Highway 31 when the Chevrolet Trailblazer he was driving left the roadway, hit the gas pumps at a Chevron station and continued traveling down the highway until it slammed into C & U Upholstery Supply Company at 640 Old Highway 31 and caught fire. Rouse was still inside the car when the blaze started.

Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) are handling the investigation and are not releasing any additional details at this time.
