Obituary: Velma G. Everett

Velma G. Everett, 80 of Addison, entered into rest on Monday, January 30, 2017 in Nauvoo, Alabama.

Mrs. Everett was born on September 28, 1936 in Addison, Alabama. She graduated from Addison High School and went on to attend college at St. Bernard and U.A.B. She retired from Meek High School as a teacher and librarian. Velma attended Kemp Baptist Church for 25 years where she served as Sunday School Teacher, and was Missions Leader in Winston Baptist Association. She was called "Sis" by her brothers and sisters. She always had a sacrificial love for her family, and loved the people of Addison. Velma loved to tell everyone about her relationship with Jesus Christ. She is now home with her Lord.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison. Services will be held Sunday, February 5, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Kemp Baptist Church. She will lie in state from 1:00-2:00 pm. Brother Eddie Everett, Brother Kenny Sudduth and Brother Sean Easterwood will officiate. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Edward Paul (Cozette) Everett, Wallace Andrew (Denise) Everett and Scott Howard (Robin) Everett. She was "Grandmother" to 7 grandchildren, Jeannie Weaver, Lee Everett, Joanna McCurdy, Chelsea Helms, Courtney Everett, Chad Everett, and Brittany Golden; 8 great grandchildren, Peyton and Allison Weaver, Lee Everett Jr., Mac McCurdy, Addison and Dillon Helms, and Zoe and Zane Everett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Edward Everett; mother, L.M. Sudduth Gardner; father, James Harvey Gardner; brothers, Henry, Howard, and Ed Gardner; sisters, Dorothy Allred and Dodie Hood; daughter in law, Lianna Johnson Everett.
