WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 A.M. SATURDAY

Additional light snow and bitterly cold wind chills expected late tonight into Saturday morning.

Areas of light snow will redevelop this evening into tonight producing light accumulations of snow. The best chances of accumulating snowfall will occur generally southeast of a Scottsboro to Vinemont line. The snow will diminish from west to east late this evening into the early morning hours of Saturday.

The snow will cause slick travel conditions in some areas.

Bitterly cold wind chills are also anticipated late tonight as gusty north winds combine with temperatures dropping into the teens.

  • A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 A.M. UNTIL 9 A.M. ON SATURDAY

The NWS in Huntsville has issued a wind chill advisory, in effect from 3-9 a.m. Saturday morning.

There will be accumulations, an inch or less, with possibly up to 2 inches along and near the I-59 corridor. Wind chill values will be from -5 to 5 degrees.

  • A wind chill advisory means that very cold air and winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
