HANCEVILLE – A John Doe of unknown age was struck and killed by a train early this morning in Hanceville. The incident happened at approximately 2:30 a.m., according to Cullman County Coroner Jeremy L. Kilpatrick.

"The victim is a white male, mid-20s to mid-30s," said Kilpatrick.

The CSX train engineer and conductor reported the incident shortly after it occurred near Commercial Street.

Kilpatrick says the body has been taken to the state forensics lab in Huntsville, where officials are hoping that fingerprints can be used for identification.

This is a developing story.
