VINEMONT – At Renovation Church in Vinemont, their passion is to provide a place where people can have a life-changing experience with God. As soon as visitors step foot into the church, they find a congregation full of spirit-filled, spirit-led Pentecostal believers. The church welcomes people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journeys. The members of the congregation strive for a sort of contagious Christianity, one that can influence and encourage the entire community, one life at a time.
The seeds of faith planted into the hearts of the children at Renovation Church are cultivated by a very special person, Mikey Tanner. Tanner grew up in Eva and graduated from Albert P. Brewer High School in 1994. His family, beautiful wife Katrina and young son Brendan, mean the world to him.
“I was called to preach in 2001 while sitting in a sound booth during a Sunday night service,” he began. “I never thought I would do anything like it. I would get terrified to get in front of my classmates in school,” he chuckled, “but I knew I had to be obedient to God's calling and have been blessed ever since.
“I am currently the student and children's pastor at Renovation Church in Vinemont,” he continued. “Our church is incredible and our vision is simple: Love, Lead, Connect. We meet people right where they are just like Jesus did,” he smiled. “My greatest accomplishment as a pastor would be the times when a lost or hurting child leaves a service different, better than when they entered.”
Tanner uses his talents in a way that keeps his audience captive and eager to serve the Lord. He truly enjoys his calling and considers it an honor to bring each child at Renovation Church closer to Jesus.
